FAQ's
How long does postpartum bleeding last?
It varies, but it's common for it to continue for up to five weeks - heaviest at first, then gradually lighter, tapering into spotting. Always check with your doctor about your own recovery.
When should I switch from diapers to Maternity underwear?
Most women find maternity underwear become sufficient somewhere between one and two weeks after delivery, once the initial heaviest flow has eased. Before that, adult diapers are recommended.
Is it safe to wear over stitches or tears?
The wide, four-layered gusset and soft fabric are designed to avoid rubbing against tender or healing areas. Always follow your doctor's specific guidance for your recovery.
Can I use this underwear immediately after delivery?
Not right away. Bleeding is heaviest in the initial few days postpartum, so we recommend heavy-duty pads/diapers during that time. Once flow starts tapering off, switch to our maternity underwear, they're designed for comfortable, leak-proof protection through the following weeks as bleeding gradually decreases.
Does this handle urinary leaks too, not just bleeding?
Yes. Postpartum recovery often means blood and urine leaks at the same time, and these pants are built to manage both, with no leaks and no odour.
How many pairs do I need?
This depends on your laundry routine and how many weeks you expect to use them for (typically 2-3 weeks). We recommend 4-5 pairs to comfortably rotate through.
Does this underwear contain micro-plastics?
Unlike other brands made from synthetic fabrics, Asan uses OEKO-TEX approved cotton, free of harmful micro-plastics.
Is it worth the price?
Yes. Asan Maternity Underwear are reusable for up to 2 years with proper care, so you'll save money by switching to Asan. You can also keep using them after your period returns.
