This privacy notice sets out the basis on which any of your personal information we collect from you, or that you provide to us, will be processed by us.

Data collection

When do you collect personal information about me?


We collect personal information from you when you:

  • visit our App (including when registering with us, use our App services, visit our website via the Asan App);
  • purchase any products from our website or sign up to any of our services;
  • contact or request information from us in any other way;
  • participate in our research projects, pilots, customer surveys or other market research, feedback and survey responses; and
  • communicate with us via social networking websites or third party apps.

What personal information do you collect about me? 


In order to provide you with the Asan App services, we need to collect certain personal information about you. This may include:

  • contact details (such as your name, email address and telephone number);
  • age, location;
  • password and other authentication information;
  • information about your health and wellbeing, such as menstrual cycle tracking, how you feel and logs for symptoms, flow and mood;
  • responses to any surveys or market research (unless these are provided anonymously);
  • your marketing preferences; and
  • your purchase history with Asan. 

Cookies

When you visit our App, we may also collect information from you automatically, for example using cookies and other similar technologies. A cookie is a small file of letters and numbers that we may set on your device. Cookies generally only work on computers, but there are similar technologies that are used with Apps.

This type of information may include the following:

  • information about your device (including a unique device identifier or device ID), operating system and IP address;
  • your login information;
  • browser type and version;
  • information about your visit on our App, including clickstream (i.e. your journey to, through and from our App), length of visits to certain pages, and page interaction information;
  • information about your use of our App, for example to distinguish you from other users of our app, and to remember your preferences which helps us to provide you with a good experience when you use our app and also allows us to improve the app and
  • Information about how you came to find our App, by tracking through our attribution partners and mobile measurement partners. We track this to understand the effectiveness of our marketing online.

Where is my data stored? 


Your data is stored on encrypted servers with Asan Wellness UK LTD. We may sometimes send your personal information outside the country, including to countries, which have less strict, or no laws, when compared to the laws in the UK. Whenever we do this, we will make sure we take steps to protect your personal information and to make sure it is treated safely and in accordance with this privacy notice.

Is my data safe? 

We understand the sensitive nature of the data you share with us and how important it is to keep your data safe. That’s why we implement technical and organisational measures in an effort to protect personal data from loss, theft, misuse, and unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. This includes:

  • encryption of your personal data in transit and in rest;
  • protection of data integrity;
  • organisational and legal measures: For example, our employees have different levels of access to your personal data and only access your personal data for limited and necessary purposes required for the operation of the Services. 

Please protect your password. Do not share it with others or allow anyone to use your mobile device. 

Please keep in mind that no security system is perfect. Therefore, we cannot guarantee the absolute security of the services or that your information will not be intercepted while being transmitted to us. If you follow any external links to another website or service, please be aware that they have their own privacy notices and we are not responsible for this.

Processing your data 

How do you process my data? 


We process three types of data in order to provide our services on the Asan App.


Account data: In order to create your Asan App account, we process some of your personal data such as a username, date of birth and email address.

Usage data: In order to provide our services and technically improve performance, we process how you interact with our App using different data points. Such data includes device data, which informs us about the device you use to access our app services (such as device model, name and identifiers, device settings, application identifier, crash information). Other usage data includes the IP address provided by your browser or mobile device, which we collect in order to deliver the service to your device. We also use the IP address to determine your approximate location for statistical and analytics purposes, and for regulatory compliance in different countries. We do not collect your precise location.


Health data: In order to provide our services as a wellness app, we process health data and other sensitive data that you choose to track in the Asan app. Such health data may include your cycle information, symptoms, pain, and flow. We only process the health data you choose to share with the Asan app. 

How do you use my personal data? 


We may process your personal information for the following purposes:

  • to provide you with the information and services you have requested and send you marketing and advertising materials that you would be interested in;
  • to authenticate your access to our App;
  • for system administration purposes and for internal operations, including troubleshooting, data analysis and testing;
  • to distinguish you from other users (for example to remember your log-in details);
  • to monitor your use of our App to improve your experience and to ensure that content is presented in the best way for you and for your device;
  • to help you with any queries or questions you might have;
  • to let you know if we change any of our services;
  • for security and fraud prevention;
  • to measure the effectiveness of our marketing efforts;
  • to ensure that our App is safe and secure; and
  • to comply with the law.

We will only process your personal information where we have a legal reason to do so. The legal reason will depend on why we have collected and use your personal information. In almost every case the legal basis will be one of the following:

  • Consent: For example, where you have said we can send you emails about products we think you’d be interested in, or where you use the log features on our app. 
  • Our legitimate business interests: Where it is necessary for us to understand our customers, promote our services and operate effectively as long as we do this in a fair way and respect your privacy and other rights. For example we will rely on this legal reason when we conduct certain analysis to understand you and make our services better.
  • Performance of a contract with you (or in order to take steps prior to entering into a contract with you): For example, where you have purchased a product from us and we need to use your contact details and payment information in order to process your order and send the product to you.
  • Compliance with law: Where we need to use your personal information in order to follow the law.

Do you share or sell my data?


We respect your privacy. Any data shared or sold to third parties for the purpose of research, marketing or business growth will be completely anonymised. 


We may only disclose your personal information to third parties in the following cases:

  • in the event that we sell our business, in which case we may disclose your personal information to the prospective buyer of such business or assets or where the personal information held by us about our customers and visitors to our websites will be one of the transferred assets;
  • if we have to disclose or share your personal information in order to comply with the law; or
  • to protect us or our users, or others, and in order to enforce or apply our terms and conditions (this includes exchanging information with other companies and organisations for the purposes of fraud protection and credit risk reduction).

Managing your data

How can I withdraw my consent from sharing my data? 


You can change your mind and withdraw your consent to sharing your data at any time. This is well within your rights. Your rights include: the right to object to the processing of your information for certain purposes, the right to access your personal information, and the ability to erase, rectify, restrict or receive a machine-readable copy of your personal information.
